Tree History Tree Planting

His branches shall spread, and His beauty shall be as the olive tree"...(Hosea 14:6).

These Bethlehem olives tree sitting on the Manger Square in-front of the Nativity Church are waiting to be planted in their God chosen destinations.

Right now it is the olives harvesting season in the Holy Land. It is the time of the year when the people of the Holy Land harvest their olive trees and it is the best time time of the year to plant a baby olive tree.

The olive Tree is evergreen and can be grown in any temperate climate. It also can be grown in containers. The tree itself is attractive and usually becomes gnarled with age it can live up to 2000 years.

The olive tree is native to the Holy Land  where it has been cultivated since ancient times. According to historians, the first olive groves took root in the Holy Land and along the coast of the eastern Mediterranean around 4,000 B.C.

The olive tree is a slow growing tree which fills during the first 7 years of it's life. It is especially productive thought out her life. Growing to heights ranging from 10 to 40 feet (3 to 12 meters),

Reaching the age of 200 the trunk disappears, shoots develop at the base of the trunk which eventually grow into a new tree, hence the reputation as the immortal tree.

"But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever." Psalm 52:8

O gnarled and ancient olive tree

Holy Land Olive Trees

Were you a witness of my Savior's grief,

And did those boughs,

Outreaching,

Give him shelter there

As though they understood -

As though

they would have hid from eyes

that stare

The awful anguish

of His prayer ?

I wonder , -

Did those thirsty roots

drink of the sweat

that dripped

from Him like blood ?

Did every twig

and ash-grey leaf

and swelling bud

and ripening fruit

and sturdy trunk

and coat of bark

the very wood -

feel with intensity

The sorrow

of Jesus the Prince of Peace?

The olive tree that Jesus prayed under in his way to Jerusalem before his crucifixion is still living and bearing fruits till this day and it is now a tourist attraction where Christians of all domination who come to the Holy Land visit and pray under.

And I pray that Christ will be more in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil (Ephesians 3:17)
